Highlight of Tour
Introduction

A small city with big dreams, Puerto Princesa is the gateway to Palawan province’s wealth of wonders and diverse eco-tourism offerings from islands and beaches to caves and reefs. This is the place where you can take your time and leave the busy world behind.

PLACES OF INTEREST
1. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River and National Park (Underground River)
In the inky darkness, your boatman’s torch illuminates the dark waterways as you gape in awe of the magnificent stalactite formations. Flowing below spectacular limestone, the underground river exits to the sea, making the approach to the caverns an adventure by itself.

2. Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm
This prison-without-walls is a remarkable model for reform, in which inmates farm, fish and produce handicrafts to earn their keep. Buy souvenirs, listen to the inmates’ stories and bring home a unique keepsake and good memories of the countryside.

3. Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (Crocodile Farm)
The centre is home to bearcats, birds, ostriches and other animals, but crocodiles make up the largest inhabitants here. For an exciting encounter, hold a baby crocodile or have it wrapped around your shoulders for the perfect photo opportunity.

4. Honda Bay
Spend a sunny day on your favourite sandy islets on Honda Bay. Feed the fish, snorkel or try some watersports on the larger islands. Your guide can serve up a sumptuous lunch on one of your stops.

5. Sabang X Zipline
On your way from the Underground River, take a short hike to the scenic jumpsite of the 800-metre zipline, built at a whopping 45 metres above sea level. The zipline crosses the waters of Sabang and lands on a sandy beach. Not brave enough to go at it alone? Take a partner on tandem with you for a scream fest.

6. Baker’s Hill
Famous for its hopia (bakpia), Baker’s Hill is an amusing if somewhat eclectic Puerto Princesa institution. The garden has life-sized resin sculptures, peacocks and a children’s playground, aside from yummy baked goods and a café.

7. Tubbataha Reef
Covering 99,600 hectares of Sulu Sea, Tubbataha is a World Heritage Site and the ultimate dream of advanced divers. The sheer amount of marine life is among the best in the world, ranging from coral to sharks, whales and dolphins. Reserve your liveaboard slots early as there are limited places and a fairly short season that runs from March to June.

8. Immaculate Conception Cathedral
Painted powder blue and white with intricate Spanish detailing, Puerto Princesa’s main Catholic sanctuary honours the Virgin Mary with modern touches in its ancient walls. For a dash of history, head to the nearby Plaza Cuartel which saw dark days in World War II.

9. Pearls
The ladies will love shopping for pearls in Puerto Princesa, whilst the gents will love buying gifts with the array of choices here. Whether loose, set in earrings or strung into necklaces, inexpensive freshwater pearls and rare South Sea pearls are cheaper in Palawan than in most other places.

10. Nearby Attractions
El Nido
Once accessible only to luxury travellers, El Nido and the islands off Taytay now welcome backpackers with a sense of adventure (and strong bottoms for rough roads). Snorkel and kayak amidst dramatic limestone cliffs and islands sans the crowds.
